Zilvia resizing images?
Yesterday I noticed that any picture ~800x600 or larger is being resized in Zilvia, and resized poorly (they are always pixelized). Is this a new 'feature'? At first, I thought it was a change done by one of the photo-hosting sites to cut down on bandwidth, but then I noticed it beeing done with multiple hosts. What is the point of this? It doesn't cut down load times any, I noticed that the whole picture is loaded before it is resized. It's also kind of annoying have to click on pretty much every picture in a thread to see it clearly.

Not everyone has a 26" superduperubermegawide screen monitor, so the images are sized down to cut back on the horizontal scrolling within a thread when someone uploads huge pictures.
The load times/bandwidth thing would be an added benefit that I am only now thinking about. |

If I have an image that's that large I post a smaller resized image and link that image to the full sized one for those who want a better look. A thumbnail with a link essentially.

Sorry but this is gay.
As I look at my twin 24" lcd's. lol Seriously it's 2008. It's like when I see "56k die" in a title. It drives me crazy. I don't care if you have a bazillion 8000x4000 photos, you don't need to put it in the title, damn retards. It's 08 and most are not on 56k and the ones that are know what they can handle.

I don't think the smaller images save any load times, because the pics have to load fully before the forum software makes the image any smaller.
Most people are using on AVERAGE a 17" monitor, there should be a minimum image size before the software minimizes it IMO. There's no point in minimizing the picture when it fits fine in a 1024x768 resolution configuration.

aha, I found out that you can turn it off. Go to your User CP. On the navigation section on the left-hand side, click on Edit Options. About halfway down the page is a section titled Thread Display Options. In that section you can select how to display images: resize them, show them in original size, open in new window, etc. The default selection is 'Enlarge in same window'. Choose 'Keep original size' to prevent the forum software from resizing the pics.

Web hasent evolved to 1920x1080, and wont for a long time. Maybe zilvia should use a fixed width ratio of say... 800px? haha
1. 1024x768 31.66% 2. 1280x800 18.65% 3. 1280x1024 17.44% 4. 1440x900 7.57% 5. 1680x1050 6.20% 6. 1152x864 2.45% 8. 800x600 1.86% 9. 1920x1200 1.76% 10. 240x160 1.67% |

Exactly. That's why the company I work for limits the view port size to below 1024x768 since most browsers have a decent size toolbar and users install probably on average one third party toolbar, limiting the view port size even more.
