Fuel rail dry as a bone!!! help!!!!
ok i just returned from working on a buddy of mines 89 coupe he just put a SR in. we got to crank the engine and it cranks but doesn't start fuel pump is priming and there is fuel at the Fuel Pressure Regulator but when we remove the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel rail, it is dry as a bone inside the fuel rail as if there is no fuel getting past the fuel pressure regulator. so with the regulator removed from the fuel rail we tried cranking the engine again and still no fuel was comming out of the fuel port that goes into the fuel rail. we removed the return fuel hose and it was dry as a bone as well. the vaccum port we are using for the FPR is the top smaller port off the throttle body. is there any tests to tell if the fpr is faulty?? how much fuel should be flowing through the regulator while in crank??? the vehicle will run when shot with starting fluid through the throttle body but as soon as the starting fluid is gone the engine dies! any other suggestiions??? i searched the archives and could not find any fuel problems that relate to my situation so any insight or maybe a link to a previous post concerning this problem would be greatly appreciated.
