Well a multi-meter can be used for continuity.....there's usually an audio setting to check for continuity in a circuit. Beeps when there's a good connection. simple.
As for the original problem....noone mentioned the MAIN fuses...there's two of them. One in the kick panel and one under the hood (they have a white box surrounding the number on the fuse diagram). Replace both of these and it should fix the problem with your car malfunctioning.
Common sense reminder.....ALWAYS use the same fuse number as whats required. NEVER go over....or you WILL fry wiring. And under will just keep popping.
