Well the KA is an Iron block engine... as the SR is Aluminum...

I dont want to do either of these two things....
1. Get Flamed
2. Start a KA Vs SR thread that will eventually be locked anyways.

so heres what i have to say take it for what its worth....

If i was going to turbo a KA which i am these are the points i have to look at when considering KA or SR

KA engines are basicly a dime a dozen over here so you break something odds are you can have it replaced ASAP.

KA Engines have more displacement meaning more torque can be made

KA has iron block which is stronger than SR's ALU block

As for the SOHC Vs DOHC.... personally I would use the DOHC which i plan on swapping into my '89.... BECAUSE, 89-90 only used the SOHC, therefore...... theres more out there for the DOHC engine because it was used in both the S13 & S14...

Finally...

DOHC.... i see it as the more valves i can get open and closed due to there being more lobes doing this work in a DOHC engine makes it more effective.... not that the SOHC is any less of an engine because if you rebuilt like whateverjames says your gonna want low compression for that turbo so the DOHC will lose its higher compression advantage over the SOHC and they will basicly be equal...

but when it boils down to it i still like saying to my one friend with his 1993 Z24..... WTF... SOHC 3.1L V6.... what a POS you own... LOL
