when those go out, the pedal doesn't stick to the floor. they will make a bad "rolling metal" noise. the throwout bearing simply sits on the input shaft of the tranny and presses the shift fork against the pressure plate. basically. i'm pretty sure. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>
