My car has no power to the wheels, so I'm guessing my differential is shot to shit plus there's all this black gunk all over the differential housing. I also heard this "bang" noise as if something broke in the rear when I was driving. Soon after, I gradually lost power to the wheels. Thank God I had enough momentum left to get my car off the highway (rt. 18, NJ).
Is it safe to assume my differential needs replacing or could there be some other problem?
