It really depends on what he's trying to do. For showroom stock classes (which no RWD SR would qualify for in the US), you can't use aftermarket parts.

But he's right. The labour to put in better parts are the same. You will only be paying for the more expensive parts, but the marginal benefits of doing a rebuild with stronger parts will be very good as compared to installing new OEM parts.
