I'm probably gonna go with an s13 fb and i have some questions that i'm looking to be answered because i plan on doing the swap myself.
1) which det is best to swap into an s13?
2) does the det mount easily? what has to be done?
3) what parts do i have to keep or get new?
4) can i use the Jspec sr20det tranny or will i have to use the ka tranny?
5) certain brands of parts to stay away from.
6) where to get det from and how much(what will i need it to come with?tranny, harness, etc.)
7) links containing good swap info or writeups
8) any major issues i should be aware of on the s13.
sorry for so many questions, i couldnt find much with the search button, it only lead me to parts for sale.

the easiest way to answer most of your questions is to use the search feature at the top. There's a wealth of info to be had here, just gotta dig a little (older members tend to flame newbies for not using the search)... to answer some of your questions:
1) which SR is "best" really depends on how far you want to take your car... as far as ease of swap, then a s13 SR (black or redtop) would be easiest.
2) I'm not sure what you're asking, but it uses the same motor mounts if that's what you're getting at. Pretty much a straight swap.
3) check heavy throttle and unstable hybrids, etc for this info
4)you have to use the SR tranny (it comes with the engine), the KA will not bolt on
5) part brand opinions seem to vary greatly by personal experience of those who've tried... the only real complaint i've heard related to headers and BOVs... figure out what route you want to take with your engine, THEN ask around about specifics
6) I can't stress enough that you should look for a full clip when buying your engine, this will assure you have all the parts needed (minus things that need to be made custom... ie A/C)
7) use the "search" and see #3
8) timing chains req replacement after around 80-100k, beware spoiler rust, leaky trunks on most s13 hatches, extreme urges to go sideways around all corners... or maybe that's just me <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

These are just REALLY short answers to your questions, but should help you in going the right direction. the 240 followers are a tight community with a lot of pride, if you get one, do it right, make us proud, no ricing the car, and street racing is for high schoolers. Use the search and absorb all you can <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

Good luck!
