It could be that just the second gear synchro wasn't getting fluid or whatever because of it's position, but that is just a guess. I would change the fluid and look for excess (some is okay) shavings on the magnetic plug.
It started with my thrid gear, and now my second. I can't even downshift to 3rd or 2nd, and not upshifting is getting tough. Some times it goes in, sometimes I get rejected and the shifter shoots back to neutral <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>
I am just going to drive it till it dies, then get a "new one" from a junker.
Doesn't sound bad, but do not make the mistake the last owner and I did by ignoring it.
