Who has told you this? Nissan makes some of the most bullet-proof engines around. The KA (cast-iron w/ aluminum head) is a very strong engine and can go past 150k w/ no problem if properly maintained.

It's all a personal preference. There are many posts here debating SR vs KA-T and none of those posts actually come to a conclusion as to which one is the better of the two. They both have their advantages, and they both have their disadvantages. It's just a matter of which route YOU want to go.
