stick to the oem cap, that's what I usually do. 13psi should be the right set. or 88kpa, and i think .9 bar.


uhm, make sure you have a 170degree thermostat.

your brand new water pump might not be working?

did you by any chance cut the water pump belt??? (some people do that when they cut their powersteering belt)

check for oil inside your coolant, possibly hg problem.

Did you BLEED the air out of your car correctly? it's important to use the burp hole, otherwise you'll still have bubbles floating around.


ALSO, it's generally NOT a good idea to get any radiator cap that isn't using STOCK pressures, UNLESS you have an UPGRADED cooling system that can HANDLE higher pressure. Otherwise you're just inviting problems for our older cars.

--- Did you swap out your clutch fan?

it's possible the thermostat on your electric fan = ghetto and doesn't turn on before it starts to heat up. probably a good idea to lower the thermostat temp on the fan.

your coolant temp sensor could be bad too.

check'em all out.
