The max anyone has revved an SR, i'm told, is 11k without breaking something. This supposedly includes the big name companies. Stock SR's start to fall apart above 8000RPM I think, when the rocker arms snap, hopefully shutting the valves preventing damage to the valve or piston. One person said that it was a built in "safety feature" on SR's, although I do know one person that over-revved his SR with a bad downshift and damaged his valves/ pistons before half the rocker arms broke (possibly from the valve piston contact).
