Injection Objection (Isn't that pretty?)
I pulled my innjectors, rail, FPR and, Valve Cover today.
The rail is fine, injectors are old and worn but usable, FPR's lower hose was ripped off and the v.cover had a break in her.
So I replaced the v.cover, used 10 ft-lb to start, check back in a week. That went splendid.
Replaced the FPR lower hose, and cleaned out the bottom opening. Put new o-rings on the injectors, fit them back in the rail. I put them all in the same way, with a light twisting to make sure the o-rings didnt bunch or hold. Put her all back together, and the mother flucking #2 injector is spraying like a broken nitrous hose...
Now heres my questions;
#1 what is the gromet between the injector and the injector "port" called?
#2, Are the injecter o-rings a little loose when you put them on or, should they be very tight and fitting on the injector?
You see, the Advanced Auto Parts ***(ociate) assured me these were correct. I compared them to the old o-rings and they appeared a bit larger but I trusted him anyway.
So now I have to waste more time tommarow to pull the FRP back off, then the lines attached to the fuel rail, then the rail itself to find out what the hell went wrong. Being that the injector never sprayed before, it probably wouldnt be the gromet correct? Then it should be the o-ring on the injector. BUT none of the other injectors are spraying like the #2 and I mimiced the process with each o-ring on all of the injectors. I couldnt really get a close look of where it was spraying (top/bottom), I was kinda worried about the whole spraying of the gasoline on my engine.
So any idea of what the hell went wrong?
Hopefully, Rob.
