IF they even did make it weaker, which I highly doubt it does. The change would be so significantly low to actually reduce the amount of stress the wheel can take.
Pretty much it would take a hard hit to break them which even if not powder coated would probably destroy your wheels as well.
Just go for it, I wouldn't panick one bit about it.
