Limited Slip Question
Ok, I have a 1997 SE, which has a Limited Slip, right? Well I'm wondering what's up. Maybe I just have no idea what an LSD actually does... anyways.
The other day I got stuck in some grass (don't ask why). One front tire and one rear tire were in the grass, up on a curb, like parallel to the curb, and one front/rear tire were down on the street. When I was trying to get out of the grass... the rear tire IN the grass spun and kicked up dirt... but the one on the street just didn't move at all. I thought an LSD would do the opposite thing?!
Also... can someone explain this? I was in a parking lot just messing around. It was wet and freshly paved... and whenever I would try to hit the gas from a standstill to spin out a little, it would just ping at 2K RPMs and the car would kinda jerk a little. But if I had momentum, like 15 MPH, I could just cut the wheels and slide very easily. This is in an AUTO, so that may have something to do with it... I tried putting it into D1, and that didn't do anything different. The only things I could come up with were Traction Control (doesn't have that...), LSD effing up, or not enough power? Someone please shed some light on this.
Thanks,
John
