I have done modification to only one S14 cluster, so I'm not real familiar with the back of them. On top of that I completely gut the clusters I do, so I don't even pay attention to what's really there. If I remember correctly it has a large ribbon circuit board that spans the backside. So you may need to reroute some of those traces if you go cutting a hole and putting a gauge there. If you take a pic of the back, or find a pic, I can give you a better idea.
