Whoever was teaching that guy obviously has no idea how to make driving a manual a simple matter. I taught my sister how to drive in about 1 hour, she was a damn quick learning, but I also feel that it's also due to reading so much on driving manual and reading about the best methods on how to teach.

Before I could obtain my first manual car, I would read threads on how to correctly shift and rev match. Doing all of that for about a week in advanced sped up my learning when I actually got my hands on the car.
