Here's a bit of insight in case you can't find the cause of that squeak in the obvious places... uhh where to begin...

So, basically, it's possible that the squeak is from busted welds that hold the sheet metal pieces together on your car. In the rear of a 240, you basically have the wheel that's connected to a shock, and then the shock is connected to the shock tower on the upper mount. Sometimes, if you're real unlucky (or if you've got a ton of miles on your car) you'll go over a bump so hard that the force will travel from the ground to the wheel, to the shock, to the shock tower, and literally force the sheet metal on your shock tower apart from the sheet metal towards the middle of the car.

From what I can tell, it looks like some pieces are just held together by tack welds in strategic places. And when the force from the ground is strong enough, the tack welds will break. Then, when force is applied to that sheet metal, it'll move against the other piece of metal that it would be welded to, causing an annoying squeak.

If you've got a rear tower strut bar, try tugging on it with some weight and see if that causes noise. Also, if you take your interior apart, look for popped-off welds and surprise tears in the sheet metal. On my s14, I had torn metal by the upper shock mount on the interior of the car, also some visible from inside the trunk, and some visible from inside the wheel well.

I hope that you don't have to deal with the caca that I'm dealing with now, but at least it's good welding practice. Good luck!
