Yeah a lot of times people overlook the throttle cable linkage. It could be too loose abduction its not opening the throttle plate enough causing it not to be as responsive. You should also look at the blowoff valve. If you have the stock BOV connected to the sidemount intercooler. Those are known to ve really crappy and can cause a lot of boost leaks. A way to check it is have a friend stick they'ear next to it as you do a couple rpm snaps, if he hears some hissing as its collecting boost it means its time to get a new BOV.
