Wether you spin the motor with the crank bolt or the pistons, the timing chain's JOB is to be able to turn the cams without breaking. Turning it by hand would be the most gentile thing possible to it. (unless someone was a retard and turned it from a cam, instead of the crank. Then it might be possible. Or it might rip out the idler or something)
