The answer depends how you plan to install it.
assuming one port will go to the valve cover, where does the other go?
if it vents to the atmosphere with a rinky dink little filter on it, no the leaks do not matter.
if it is connected to your intake, after the maf then yes in theory it can effect things. of course depending how much air actually travels through.
id try and teflon that again, you should be able to make an air tight seal with that pretty easy.
