I live in a major city, to get my apartment I didn't need an ID. When I applied to grad school & accepted financial aid, I didn't need an ID. My utilities account has no ID tied to it. The only time I used an ID for my bank account was setting it up, if my parents had set it up for me as a kid...no ID would've been needed. Live somewhere with a decent public transport system? Don't need an ID. I have a bus pass on my phone & that required ZERO ID.
Banking? Ally.com online banking, boom. I apply for credit cards online, no ID needed.
