Yeah when I get a car now first thing I do is rip out the carpet, degreaser and wash all that floor board... gunk... out. Scrub it really good so its just the pseudo sticky sound deadener left in there. Fix any rust etc...

And then paint it with some good ol' rustoleum oil based paint. The paint sort of eats up any leftover oil residues and sort of soaks into the sound deadener, its pretty slick. And it keeps water off and out of the sound deadener and seals up any leftover metal exposed.

Friend gave me the idea, we did his car first and then I was like omg im doing that from now on
