that guy is bs'ing you, no need to remove the entire engine. I'm not too sure how tough a job it is, but I do know you can leave the engine in no problem. Maybe someone with a bit more experience can shed some light as to the difficulty of the job. Might also help if you let us know what you were looking to get for it.
