This is cognitive dissonance at work. You paid alot of money for something you like, and don't wish to be told that it sucks now, or was a bad choice for whatever reason.

However, s13 sr20det are used for nearly every single 400+rwhp sr20det. The s13 has a much more efficient head because it doesnt' have to make room for the vvt. So yes, once you remove the vvt and t28.. the s14 motor is a poor choice for a motor. You spent more money for a motor with extras that make it nice for mid-power levels and daily driving. Removing those and getting an inferior motor just cannot be reasoned as "acceptable" for any reason. The only thing that now sets your motor apart is the valvecover... and powdercoating an s13 sets it further apart than another s14 cover. And saves you the $400+ motor price difference.
