There is a driveline loss at the flywheel.  It is usually quite negligable, somewhere around 1.5-3% losses, depending on how heavy your flywheel is.  
So if you go from really heavy, 3% loss, to something really light, say 1.5% loss, on a 240sx, you are only talking 1.5% of 155hp.  Thats a mere 2.325 horsepower.  
But a 3% flywheel is like those on a z31, which weigh 30 pounds or so.  Ours are 21-ish.  
We'd probably go from a 2.5% to a 1.5% loss, which would be 1.4 horses or so.  I'd rather think about the weight loss aspect.  It's better to pay $2/lb in first gear than pay $233/hp.  It would just settle my mind better.
