All s chassis i have seen have the steering shaft damper bushing.

The best way as mentioned is with the engine out.

The second best is to do this.


1. Remove under dash cover.
2. Drop steering column.
3. unplug wiring.
4. unbolt firewall to steering shaft bracket.
5. jack up car
6. place jack stands under the frame.
7. go under and remove the steering shaft to rack coupler.
8. pull out whole steering shaft.
9. install the bushings, and reinstall.
