Mine was a crappy design. The dump tube was routed back into the DP about 4 inches from the turbo. The dump tube was also welded flat back onto the DP so it interupted the exhaust flow which is why it must have increased spool up. If my dump tube was further down the DP I wouldnt have noticed an increase. Anyways I have an HKS wastegate which has been good to me so far

If the exhaust gasses are not going around the turbo through the wastegate and through the dump tube when you are "spooling" then how does that change anything from it being an internal wastegate? The wastegate is fully closed when you are spooling up so the wastegate you has does not really matter. This is unless you had a crappy old waste gate actuator before that wasnt working properly and not holding the gate shut =)
