my thoughts:
cut some sheetmetal into strips, and screw them to the underside of the vent to make a frame (much like a picture frame). leave an inch or so of overlap off the sides of the vent. place the vent up into the hood from underneath. weld it like you welded the rest of your car. bondo. paint. sexy hood.
