Its most likely not a problem with the knock sensor but circuitry......to test with the KOEO take a volt meter and hook one to ground and the other back probe the knock sesnor signal wire and you should get 2.5v if not you probably got a short to ground on the signal wire, most likely the shielded wire has broke threw the signal wire and if causing a short to ground found this to be teh case on a hand full of S13's.
