DO NOT DO THAT!!!! I don't know who the first guy was to do this and then show all his friends and now everyone knows but if I saw him I'd slap him till my hand was a broken, bloody, stub. My freind loves doing this and it's not smart. 2 things can happen depending on which side of the fuse you use.
1) The fuse will blow because of the added load therby making you put in a bigger one. In which case if the amp isn't on and something happens to the wire the fuse is supposed to operate it may not blow the fuse and catch stuff on fire.
2) There will be no fuse for the remote wire as it is running off the hot side and if something happens to this wire, poof a toasted marshmallow for a car.
Run the wire off the remote wire like you are supposed to. It is 12V but has very low amperage and also has protection circuitry built in the deck thereby not allowing your car to catch on fire.
kikz19, whoever showed you this little trick is not too bright and don't listen to them. If you discovered this on your own then I want to follow these instructions:
Raise your right hand (unless you are a lefty) until it is head high. Clinch your fingers tightly to form a fist. Now pummel your head repeatedly until you lose consiousness. When you regain consiousness repeat the proceedure until you have finally knocked some sense into yourself.
