*not having a rule book and not willing to read it for this* I always assumed an SR would put you in GT (2 or 3) - which is not a place that I could afford to be! That allows whole motor swaps. I always thought that IT required the factory motor to remain (even if F/I). The SR is just not SCCA friendly - technically, in autox you should run it in Mod b/c it is not a US licensed engine (which is must be to run SM).
In any event, keep in mind that building a race car and getting a racing license is a lot of work. I'm sure that bbp could tell you the countless thousands of $$$'s gone... all gone to the Goddess of the Late Apex. If you haven't started already, start getting track time - as much as possible - while you consider your car build up. I figure at the rate I'm going, I won't be eligible for evaluation for another year or two (and I try to regularly hit schools). Also, honestly, while my goal is to run an ITS car - there is little chance it will be my current car b/c of the rules.
