ABS is definitely nice in bad weather. Could have used it today. Not a bad stop, but on a concrete road that was wet on the drivers side near the side walk, and dry on the passenger side, so I was skidding my FD wheel while the others grabbed fine. I doubt it was fast or hard enough to flat spot.
The other deal is some ABS systems are much more sensitive than others. On more aggresive cars you probably won't see it till you need it. DSC sounds like it was premature. My parents accord is very premature sometimes and others I can't get it to invoke without an actual skid. I think if you can toggle it, that would kick ass. And if you could figure it out to light your abs light when off to remind you, that would kick @$$.
