The amount of engaged threads should be greater than or equal to the diameter of the threaded portion of the rod.

I know that most people run the spacers wth Z32 rods. It's possible that s14 rods just don't have the same length of threads. As long as you follow the above rule, you will be fine. Just remember to use loktite!.
