Did you unplug the coil packs, one at a time as it was idling? If you unplug one and the idle doesn't change you have a dead plug/coil/etc. Other than, pull the codes to see what the ECU has to say for itself. I guess you probably have a broken sensor or bad wiring somewhere.
Also, what were you doing to the car at the shop before it started acting up? Were you installing parts or troubleshooting another issue?
