Anyone know of any good ecu tuning books?

hello,
Im just looking for any recommendations on engine management tuning books or manuals. Id like to learn how to read and interpret fuel and timing maps and things of that nature. Im going to be starting a new project in a few months and plan on using an emanage/laptop system, and id love to be able to use the info correctly.
2 books i am thinking about are:

Engine Management: Optimizing Modern Fuel and Ignition Systems (Haynes High-Performance Tuning Series) (Hardcover)

and

How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems (Motorbooks Workshop) by Jeff Hartman

Has anybody read either of these or have recommendations on other books?
Thanks,
Matt
