An FR G35 with that motor, and a lower price tag than the GTR just may be the ticket.
But the Kabura MX4 is still appealing, especially a turbocharged Mazdaspeed varient.

Yuri the G35 coupe is a Skyline GTS, in Japan already. Has been the whole time its been here.
As for your comment about the pricing on sports cars goes, now is a different time than the early 90's.
In the early 90's the American buying public was not prepared to spend 30-40k on a Japanese Sports car or Luxury car. Today the spend 30-40k on a Japanese sports car without blinking an eye and more on Japanese luxury cars. The market is ready for the upper line stuff. Remember we have the 350z and its topping out at around 35k and can be had new for as little as 26k. The GTR is a whole different catagory and will be a limited production run to start. It will sell. EVO's and STI's are not true sports cars anways they are glorified econobox's that have been turned into Pro Rally cars. They are Sports Sedans!! A sporty car but not a true Sports car. Supra and Kabura look like the will be the real deal but until both companies officially put them on table, its like talking about another Silvia.
Solstice/Sky are just a classic example of how while GM makes the Corvette and does it pretty close to right they screw up in the smaller roadster class and make a big ugly little piece of shit. aka solstice/sky.
