Ok DSC, I'm waiting for my sway-bars to get here, so my question to you is what kind of sway-bars did you get?  I got the Suspension Techniques sways for about $300 for both of em'.  As far as not killing yourself under your car, I would
1) Have someone else there with me to give a hand
2) Make sure you chock the tires that are still on the ground, find a piece of 4x8 wood or something
3) Make sure your e-brake is on like you said, and depending on which way the car is facing, put the car in either 5th gear or reverse.
4) Use multiple jack stands if you can supporting different areas of the car.
