I don't think that you will find a R-12 recharge kit, I am thinking that you are thinking of a 134A, and the older 240s don't have that.
I looked at the ac diagrams and I think that the cooling fins,or condensor, is in the airflow already.
I am going to have to replace my compressor, expansion valve, and dryer this week, I will look in there and see.
