I'm sure you did already, but did you check to make sure that everything was connected correctly?
If so, I have heard of a problem that happens with aftermarket Intakes that causes the check engine light to come on because it messes up something with the MAFS, but unfortunately I can't remember how to correct the problem, I thought it was supposed to be a simple ECU reset as well...
