The turbo is just a small part of the picture. You will need piping fom the MAF to the turbo, piping from the turbo to the intake (you could probably skip an intercooler if you're doing this on the cheap), a manifold (I don't know if the Z18 manifold works on the KA24DE...), a downpipe, a basic boost controller, oil lines, water lines??, gauges, etc. And basically none of it will be of any use to you when you get the bigger turbo. So you will have wasted at least $500 (US) for basically nothing. You'll MAYBE get 40-50 at the wheels, but was it really worth the effort?
Why not just enjoy your beautiful car...and it is purdy...for as long as it takes to get a nice setup. Then do it right. You'll be happier in the end.
