Some might disagree but if you monitor your gauges its very nice to know where you stand because even a car tuned with an EMS will run differently depending on the weather and other variables. Now there is no problem using both as they are two different tools. The issue with only running an SAFC is what is your form of timing control and what kind of motor are you running. Many people use them with flashed or ROM ecu's as a fine tuning tool and for that it does the job just fine. Now if you just went and slapped a turbo on your KA and plan on doing all tuning with your afc then youre in for a rude awakening as you have no control over timing. We need more info on your setup in order to help you outl

Okay, thanks for the info and sorry for the newb question, but all this fuel management and timing control is still new to me. But here's my set-up:

t3/t4 turbo .57 trim
ssac manifold with rewelding tig welds
jgs oil lines
tial wastegate 38mm
ssqv bov
sr20 downpipe
ebay 3" exhaust
FMIC
SAFC II
autometer electric water temp gauge
autometer electric oil pressure gauge
autometer boost/vac gauge
370cc injectors
255 walbro fuel pump
