May I offer a suggestion? If you used a digital camera to take pictures of what you needed help with as far as re-assembling your shifter into the transmission, I bet everyone could help out. I'm down to help you out also.

I did a B&M knockoff. The round spring that's not flat but kinda wavy goes in first. Then you slide the bottom of the shift rod through your plastic spacer and insert it into the transmission, making sure that the pivot point fits properly into the linkage connection housing. Then you slide your 1/8" plastic spacer on top of the shift rod pivot ball. On top of the plastic spacer sits the top plate, and the two brackets you have attach the plate to the shifter housing by sliding into the groove on the side of the shifter housing and then being snugged down by alan (sp?) bolts at the four corners of the plate. I've included a drawing that may help.
