Does anyone have any expierence with any oil additives, like STP, that might help slow or stop the oil burning for a couple more months?
Well let me just go on record saying that burning oil and excessive smoke from the tail is NOT common on high mileage engines (200k).

Those problems are common on POS cars that aren't properly maintained. I swear if I had a nickle for everytime I hear some guy say "Gotta get a new engine cause I'm over 150k....so I dont have much longer".

I'm on my 3rd car now that has passed the 200k barrier and I have had practically zero problems with the mechanics of the motor. Aside from changing gaskets and seals the motors have always run sound. And both of my latest 240s exceeded 200k with spirited driving and some proper maintenance. Sorry to get off topic but I felt this needed to be said.

As far as the OP goes, you answered your own question. You didn't notice the smoke until you got the upgraded cams? You've changed your valve timing and wonder why you got smoke? Also with the increased flow from the larger piping and no Converter, you're gonna see more smoke.

SIDE NOTE: YOU'RE POLLUTING THE AIR WITH UNNECESSARY POLLUTANTS for practically no power gains, oh and it's illegal.

It's basically running like your typical lawn mower. No cat, modified valve timing, 3+" piping..... and you're surprised?

I'll bet you the motor isn't in as bad a shape as you think. Sorry if this seems rude but I'm just getting to the point.
