Those problems are common on POS cars that aren't properly maintained. I swear if I had a nickle for everytime I hear some guy say "Gotta get a new engine cause I'm over 150k....so I dont have much longer".
I'm on my 3rd car now that has passed the 200k barrier and I have had practically zero problems with the mechanics of the motor. Aside from changing gaskets and seals the motors have always run sound. And both of my latest 240s exceeded 200k with spirited driving and some proper maintenance. Sorry to get off topic but I felt this needed to be said.
As far as the OP goes, you answered your own question. You didn't notice the smoke until you got the upgraded cams? You've changed your valve timing and wonder why you got smoke? Also with the increased flow from the larger piping and no Converter, you're gonna see more smoke.
SIDE NOTE: YOU'RE POLLUTING THE AIR WITH UNNECESSARY POLLUTANTS for practically no power gains, oh and it's illegal.
It's basically running like your typical lawn mower. No cat, modified valve timing, 3+" piping..... and you're surprised?
I'll bet you the motor isn't in as bad a shape as you think. Sorry if this seems rude but I'm just getting to the point.

Well thank you for your concern, however no where in this was i surprised... (precisely why i underlined "more" in the original post, because it was also burning oil prior to other modifications)
I know its typical old engine behavior, and i'm 100% sure that if i owned this car since 1990 that it would be in much better running condition. Unfortunately most people don't car about thier car as much as we do.
Please, if you would like to help, disregard your insulting comments and re-read the post. My question is not, "why is my car smoking?"
