Wait...wait...don't tell me, I've been there before....
They want you to get an automatic because they "say" they're gonna have to drive your car from time to time and they can't drive stick right? If that's the case, I bet you they'll only drive it once or twice and then they'll forget about it. Therefore, you're stuck with an automatic. That's my current situation with my Integra. Now they've realized they were being jackasses about the whole "automatic vs. manual" deal and I've been good at school, they're gonna help me get another car that's newer vehicle equipped with a 5-speed transmission.
Bottom line is, you can save up money and do a tranny swap down the line if you REALLY, REALLY love your car and it's in excellent condition. Otherwise, you can do as less to it as possible and hopefully your parents would start to realize that you wanted a 5-speed in the first place, sell your car, and then get one with a manual tranny.
