Actually, Joe, the Romans basically DID that, also adding couple months to the calendar for nothing more than Narcissism...
July - Julius Caesar
August - Augustus Caesar.
Don't believe me? Compare the romance languages and those derivative, like Latin, Spanish, Italian
September - sept, septo = SEVEN... so why the fuck is it the 9th month?
October - octo, very similar to Octo = 8... 10th month? I didn't get the papers on that.
November - nove, nueve = nine, how did it slip to 11?
December - diece, diez = 10... but it is the 12th month?
The Romans took liberties with the calendar that have gone unchecked and likely will remain as such in this lifetime.
