As two people have already said, go with the Ninja 250. It will teach you good technique, and then when you step up to a bigger bike you will have better technique and thus be able to go faster. It's true, you might get bored of the power, but it's something that you really should learn to deal with because you will become a better rider because of it. hell (I edit to capitalize "hell" three times, but it refuses to stay) you could even keep the little 250 for a track bike.

Oh yeah, and when you come to stop signs, lean the bike to the left and put your left foot down. Don't put both feet down, have the right foot on the rear brake.
