Take a drill and drill small holes and remount the cables. They will work fine and will be as strong as the stock location. It ends up under the rear seat. I drilled one hole for the guide and one for the 10mm bolt and tapped it and put a lock nut on the other side. It helps to have another person handy to tighten down the other side. Take your time marking the new drilling locations. Good luck.
