You fail at common sense. Mathmatically -8+20=12, but when you take off set calculations into perspective if a wheel has a offset of +12mm and you space the wheel out 20mm then you are moving the center of the wheel 20mm farther from the hub. Which would make that a -20mm so (+12) + (-20)= -8.
My first post i missread. I thought the wheels were a -8 with a 20mm spacer, not +12 with a 20mm spacer. But if it was -8 with a 20mm spacer then it would be (-8) + (-20) = -28

The wheels are spaced effectively to -8 because the offset was originally +12.
12 - 20 = -8
